About:
Dari Nastaleeq is a True Type font. It contains Dari sets of characters. It also contains some Open Type library tables for glyph substitution and positioning.
Content:
Dari Nastaleeq is composed of over 3300 glyphs that are base characters, glyphs for Kashida (Tatweel) forms and glyphs for alternate shapes for some characters.
Introduction:
Dari Nastaleeq is a Nastaleeq font. A very good deal of effort has been made for spacing and Kerning of letters. But text processors are based on western and Latin languages that do not contain much artistic capabilities for freedom of positioning letters and words. Therefore, texts are created with a word processor or other graphical tools using Dari Nastaleeq font and then converted and manipulated for calligraphy and artistic styles and purposes. Regular word processors will generate nice Nastaleeq writings but will not have the beauty of Nastaleeq calligraphy for positioning.
The best tool that I have experienced is Open-Source free software Inkscape 1.1.2. This software has everything that is needed to create very nice Nastaleeq writing pieces. It is very easy to work with and it creates a scalable vector graphic (.svg) file. It can also save the .svg file to an Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) for use in any other software that can manipulate .pdf files. The best part is that it is free.
Capabilities:
- Just like western and Latin languages a space will terminate a word.
- (Shift + J) key after a letter will convert to a Kashida (tatweel) form of the letter, if applicable. Not all letters have Kashida forms.
- (Shift + X) key after a letter will convert to an alternative form of the letter if applicable. Not all letters have alternate shapes.
Hints:
- Install Persian keyboard. Some features in the font are specifically designed for the Persian keyboard that will not work with other keyboards.
- Space will terminate a word.
- If shapes do not convert to either Kashida form or alternate form, most likely there are no Kashida or alternate form for that shape in that specific structure.
